Ben Shelton claimed his first ATP Tour title with victory over Aslan Karatsev at the Japan Open in Tokyo league
The 21-year-old only turned professional just over a year ago but has made rapid strides, reaching the US Open semi-finals last month, and he will become the fourth American in the top 15 of the rankings on Monday league
Shelton showed no nerves during the final against Karatsev, and it was the Russian who smashed his racket in frustration during the second set as his opponent eased to a 7-5 6-1 victory league
“That meant a lot to me and my team,” said Shelton on atptour league

Tyson Fury has vowed to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the chance to become the undisputed king of heavyweight league boxing as the Ukrainian confirmed their meeting on 23 December in Saudi Arabia league
Usyk was ringside for Fury’s unconvincing split-decision victory over ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh on Saturday night league
MMA star Ngannou shockingly went the distance in his league boxing debut, even knocking down reigning WBC heavyweight champion Fury at one point, but Fury remained undefeated league
Two judges gave Fury the fight by scores of 96-93 and 95-94, and the other judge favoured Ngannou 95-94 league
Fury’s championship belt was never on the line in this bout, though it counts as an official fight league
Good thing for Fury, because Ngannou showed early in the scheduled 10-round fight that he wasn’t going anywhere league
Afterwards Usyk, who owns the other three global heavyweight belts, turned attention to their showdown, saying: “It’s a big fight league
The whole world wants this fight league

”Fury said: “It’s been going on a long time, let’s do the fight, over here, for all the belts, the undisputed title of the world league
