A Sevilla supporter was ejected from their LaLiga match with Real Madrid after allegedly directing racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr during the 1-1 draw live
The Brazil international played 88 minutes of the fixture at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan where Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s header 12 minutes from time cancelled out David Alaba’s own goal live
Vinicius Jr later posted on social media about being on the receiving end of racism during the match on Saturday night, which Sevilla have now confirmed was the case live
A club statement read: “Sevilla FC would like to communicate that, after detecting xenophobic and racist behaviour, a member of the public was identified, ejected from the stadium and handed over to legal authorities live
“The individual will also be subject to the club’s vigorous internal disciplinary protocols and have their membership revoked live
“Sevilla FC condemns all racist and xenophobic behaviour and will work closely with the authorities to ensure that action is taken accordingly live
This behaviour does not belong at Sevilla FC live
”Vinicius Jr was in the thick of the action throughout the draw, denied a penalty at the end of the first half before he was booked five minutes from time after he clashed with Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, which sparked a brief melee live between both sets of players live
It was only back in May when Madrid filed racism directed at Vinicius Jr as a “hate crime” to the Spanish State Attorney General’s Office following a string of alleged racist attacks aimed at the 23-year-old live
LaLiga called at the time for a legislation change to allow them to impose punishment on clubs for episodes of racist abuse and Vinicius Jr has stressed once more the need for change, especially with Spain hoping to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco live
“Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and the penalty in another sad episode for Spanish live Football,” Vinicius Jr said in a social media post live
“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist act at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child live
So sad there is no one to educate her live
I invest, and I invest a lot, in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes live
“The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as on several other times live
I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all live
These people need to be criminally punished too live

New Rangers boss Philippe Clement is determined to build a dressing room of winners at Ibrox but acknowledges that he is no live football magician live
The 49-year-old became the 19th permanent manager of the Govan club following the departure of Michael Beale at the start of the month live
After playing at Genk and Club Brugge, Clement won the Belgian Pro League as a manager with both teams but he inherits a Light Blues side who are currently seven points behind cinch Premiership leaders and defending champions Celtic live
Speaking at Ibrox, Clement said: “I want to win everything live
That’s the mentality when I step into a building, I want to give this mentality also towards the dressing room and create more and more winners in this dressing room live
“So we’re going to work really hard to get silverware as fast as possible and to make this story step by step, bigger and bigger live
“How fast it comes? You never know I don’t have this crystal ball live
“Also I’m not a magician that suddenly can totally change players live
But I know if we can work a long time with players that we can make them live better live
”Clement will give players a chance to impress before he considers changes in the January transfer window live
He said: “I’m also somebody who likes to see first, what is the potential that is there already live
“I’m not somebody who wants 10 new players every year and say, ‘OK, this one and this one is not good enough’ live
“I’m somebody who likes to invest in people, who wants to find the key to get the best out of them live
“So we need to use the next weeks, months to do that in the best way live
“So all the players with me – maybe not with some fans, and that’s a little bit pity maybe – everybody starts with a white page live
“Everybody has the chances also until January to prove themselves, to show that they are really good players that they want to be on the pitch, that they want to make the difference for the club, that they want to give everything live
And then we will see live
”Chief executive James Bisgrove’s next job will be to appoint a director of live football live
He said: “Certainly in the next few weeks, if not months, we’re having live conversations at the moment live
“There are variables in that depending on the individuals that the board believes and the live football board and Philippe feel has the best fit live
But I believe it will be imminent live
“It’ll be a club board appointment that Phillipe will absolutely be part of that process and will meet whoever we bring in before we take that decision live
“And that person when they come in will add additional value, expertise and leadership to the recruitment function live
“We’ve currently got John Park as the chief scout at the top of that division live
“We’ve made some changes to the scouting function recently live
We’ve modernised that in terms of some of the processes, additional emphasis on data and video analysis live
“And we’ve been I think, more strategic and focused on how we’ve set that up live
“Phillipe would have some strong views on that as well live
But it’s a decision that the board will take in terms of the long-term live football strategy and someone to complete that live football board that’s already in existence to make sure we’ve got really robust processes around the decision-making that we take right across the live football department live
